Your Love is King
Born from a day dream and the Melodies of Your Love is King by Sade
The first time I heard Sade was when I was in the fourth grade. My mother had a collection of CDs and an amazing stereo system. Sades cover sparked my interest amongst the array of shiny disks, I inserted her CD, pressed play and was immediately teleported to this moment of love. It felt like I was levitating and visiting an alternate universe where my higher self reached out to my younger self to cultivate this experience of joy.
I found myself dancing to the beat of my drum and another, the beats synchronized beautifully. I felt like I was in a trance but before I closed my eyes a vision appeared of me committing to this dance in my heart. I saw velvet vinyls next to my aorta and a speaker at my center blasting answers through Jazz.
Committing to this moment for a lifetime brought me an immense amount of freedom. It started off as an idea based on this feeling, it traveled into my journal and imprinted as a poem before touching the canvas.
Incorporating my heart into this is symbolic to my journey, this path Iām on involves this dance for life, this path involves this dance of freedom.
